I'm writing today to ask if you would be interested in helping ME help a friend. Last year I received an outpouring of support while going through cancer treatments, and know first-hand how valuable random acts of kindness are. I am doing well today, so now it's my turn....
Reece's Round-Up
If you're from Castle Rock, you may be familiar with "Reece's Round-Up". Reece Rubino was diagnosed at 2 months with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) a motor neuron disease affecting the voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as holding your head up, crawling, walking, swallowing, and even breathing. SMA can paralyze a child from head to toe, and there is no cure. The condition is the #1 genetic killer of babies under the age of two. Well... handsome young Reece is now 4 years old! The Gift of Assistance
My friend, his mother, Lesa must be at Reece's side 24/7, not even able to go to the kitchen by herself to get a cup of coffee. So obviously many of her day-to-day tasks are taking a back seat. I felt it would be wonderful to present Lesa with the gift of assistance. There's a business in town appropriately named "The Good Fairy", a personal assistant, Chris Jarrell, who will run errands, get groceries, prepare meals, do laundry, organize, make phone calls and appointments, etc. (rockjarrell@netzero.net).... This is exactly what Lesa needs!! The fee is a very reasonable $20/hour.
One-Hour-At-a-Time
If you would like to help out one-hour-at-a-time, I'm accepting checks or cash and will present Lesa with 100% of the donations in the form of nice,
crisp twenties that she can turn into "hours" of help from The Good Fairy. I'll even accept gift certificates of any kind for the Rubino family.
